Dark Days
September 12, 2011 at 11:54 pm | Posted in Grief | 6 CommentsTags: death, life after loss, Sawyer, unexplainable
The email from Sawyer’s pathologist did not change anything. However, I somehow feel like I have been catapulted back to the first few months after Sawyer died. All the familiar feelings are back. Sleeplessness. Frustration. Disbelief. Sadness. Guilt. Desperation. Anger. Hopelessness. Worry.
Life will go on. I will go with it.
“The world breaks everyone
and afterward
many are strong at the broken places”
Ernest Hemingway (A Farewell to Arms)
This quote was sent to me years ago in
a letter from my mother’s best friend
who I like to call my friend now too.

{{{{{Hugs}}}} That’s all I have for you today. No words of wisdom, no soothing quote, just a hug to tell you I understand.

Thinking about you Lanie, and I do understand how something like this could reset you. Can’t wait until you get out here and we can take you for walks and give you some hugs.

It is still my favorite quote. But the scar tissue never totally heals the wounds underneath. You wanted answers. There are no answers to satisfy a mother or father who loses a precious baby. There is only time and the love and understanding of those around you.

Oh Dahlin’, I am so very sorry you are hurting so much. I wish you could have been given answers, something that you could direct your focus, your grief, your anger towards. I am thinking of you, sending love and prayers for healing and hope and better days. – Love, Amy
